Using CyberProf, you can create sets of Web-based interactive homework and quiz problems. Students can work homework problems on the Web as many times as necessary to grasp the material. Students can also use CyberProf to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of their knowledge and skills and to direct their own learning. CyberProf provides students with the opportunity for active learning both inside and outside the classroom.
CyberProf problems can include animations, images, graphs, and equations as well as prose text. CyberProf problems are created using the HTML Editor, You input the question or content of the problem and the acceptable answer or range of answers. You can also provide students with up to two hints. Hints or help can take the form of simple prose text or of a series of further questions designed to guide students through the problem.
CyberProf's GradeBook will evaluate student responses to homework problems and return immediate feedback. CyberProf now includes grading packages that evaluate mathematical expressions, graphs, short answer questions, and multiple choice questions. Specialized grading packages are also developed as needed: for example, a nomenclature grading package is used to evaluate introductory organic chemistry problems; in addition, grading software is now being developed for computer science courses. Finally, CyberProf will record students' performance on quizzes and homework problem sets in the class GradeBook.
